Founded in 2003, Marwa designs, produces and sells trendy, affordable women’s ready-to-wear collections. The brand has built a strong market position thanks to its ability to offer collections better suited to local preferences than European imports, as well as its agility in responding to fast-changing fashion trends.
CDG Invest Growth, through Capmezzanine I Fund, invested in Folly Fashion in 2009 to support the expansion of its owned and franchised store network in Morocco and abroad, while strengthening the company’s footprint in Europe and the Middle East.
This transaction marks the successful completion of a close partnership with Folly Fashion during key phases of its development, during which Marwa expanded its network from 14 to 73 stores, most of which are directly operated, complemented by several franchises and three e-commerce platforms. The company now operates 73 stores in Morocco, 5 in Saudi Arabia, 2 in Lebanon, 2 in Kuwait and 1 in France.
This successful transaction underscores CDG Invest Growth’s commitment to backing leading Moroccan entrepreneurs and fostering the emergence of regional champions with strong brands and international ambitions.
Hassan Laaziri, CEO of CDG Invest Growth, stated:
“This exit from Folly Fashion marks a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting Moroccan companies that are leaders in their respective sectors. We are proud to have accompanied Folly Fashion throughout its development in Morocco and internationally, and to have witnessed the brand establish itself as a benchmark in women’s ready-to-wear.“
CDG Invest Growth was advised in this transaction by DLA Piper (legal counsel) and BV Capital (M&A advisor).
